The father of the RG Kar Medical College rape and murder victim has sought a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the circumstances surrounding his daughter's tragic death. On Tuesday, Sajal Ghosh, the BJP councilor of Ward No. 50 of the Kolkata Municipality, confirmed that the victim’s father sent a letter to Amit Shah expressing his desire for a personal meeting.
The letter, which began by wishing Amit Shah on his birthday, emphasized the deep emotional and psychological turmoil the family has been enduring since the horrific incident. In the letter, the father wrote that both he and his wife are in a state of extreme distress and helplessness, unsure of how to proceed in the aftermath of the tragedy. They feel that discussing the situation with Amit Shah might offer them some solace and understanding in this dark time.
The victim’s father is willing to meet the Union Home Minister at any location and time that Shah deems suitable. “We just want to discuss several issues with him,” the father wrote, without elaborating on the specifics of what those issues are. However, the letter's tone conveyed a deep sense of frustration and helplessness, with the father also seeking to know the Union Home Ministry's position on the case.
The death of Abhaya, a young medical student at RG Kar Medical College, has left her family shattered and has sparked widespread protests, with junior doctors and students demanding swift justice. The case has gained national attention, and the West Bengal government has been working to address the escalating tensions surrounding the incident.
